Hi! I wasn't able to successfully convert pSX Memory Card to another format. I always get the message: File is in a wrong format. But I found a few other converter that gets the job done. CVGSUtil v0.4.4a: members.at.infoseek.co.jp/DrHell/labo/index.htmlPSXGameEdit v1.60: moberg-dybdal.dk/psxge/Both progs successfully converted pSX Memory Cards to the VGS and epsxe Format. One note to converted FFIX saves on VGS, you need the Movie Patches to load the converted savegames or you just get corrupt savegames. Greetings from Germany... GillianSeed

When you're configuring the Memory Cards, just type in a filename that doesnt exist. pSX will automatically create the memory card.

AFAIK you also need to format the new card: do this by opening it in BIOS - i.e. after the Playstation bit when starting the emu but not running a game, you go to the Memory Card and CD Player page. Open the Memory Card bit (you'll need to have your controller configured as digital) so you can see the new card; that should format it.

Yeah my memory was blurry as to whether or not opening it in the BIOS formatted the memory card, so I didn't bother suggesting it. Thanks for the confirmation *updates FAQ*

hey guys, I tried a few things now to get saving working but alas to no avail... I tried the conversion tools and convert files i had from GME to MCD. This works and the cards can be read in bios.. (i can see the game saves, copy files from one to the other and everything else). My issue is that in both the games I am playing right now (dracula X and Valkyrie Profile) the in game save system does not want to save. Both games access the card but they both say "An error occurred while accessing memory card data" I can load fine from PSV save states, is there any way of converting GME/MCD files into PSV? Thanks again ::/edit:: I also tried creating a blank card and formatting it (you just have to see the card in startup to format right? There is no format option?) This created the same issue.. as in a nice blank card but the game still refuses to write to it.

you just have to see the card in startup to format right? There is no format option? If you mean in the BIOS then, yes, beebot, you just have to open the card in BIOS to format it.

Hi, I'm having problems trying to convert .GME save files to .PSV files. I have looked through this site and did not find it. I'm using PSXGameEdit. Thanks for your help.

That would be... impossible, to say it simply. A .gme file is a memory card, and a .psv file is a savestate. Those are two completely different types of files. A .psv savestate is simply a RAM dump at the exact moment of saving, whereas a memory card is selective, ordered data (containing different information, depending on the game). The only way I could imagine converting between the two would be if somebody wrote a specific utility that could do the conversions, and it'd only work for that game (and may not even be possible then).
You want to convert the .gme format to either .mcd or .mcr (well, or .bin... but I'll stick to the first two for the sake of not having both memory cards and games with the same extension).

Thanks for your help Gamesoul Master, but i have a nother question. What this means is that it will be impossible to convert any gamesaves (using the memory card found within pSX emulator) using the pSX emulator to an actual memory card? And if that is possible, than how come PSXGameEdit does not recognize the extension .bin (my memory card extention for pSX emulator)? Could you help me.
