It would be nice if you could get rid of that freeze in fist of the north star (the one in 3D).

I don't like the word 'request' - here's a suggestion: How about an option to read the subcode seperately and store it on the harddrive? This will help people who have optical drives that read the subcode slowly. -Sune Does your CD drive suffer from this problem? I find it hard to believe that this is a real problem because the CD drive _has_ to read the subcode even when reading the CD normally - I can't see why it would be any slower... The way it works is that the MMC command for readcd has an extra parameter that specifies whether or not to return subcode (there are several formats supported, pSX tries a couple of different options). If someone can confirm that this is a real problem I will add a way to extract the subcode to a file.

I was wondering if you could get rid of cdz and make the cd boot into the emulator from the disc itself also could you make rumble ability in the next version one last thing would it be possible to make the graphics in hd (high definition) also make pal and ntsc versions available for the emulator to recognize!

You don't need to use cdz - pSX supports: cue/bin, iso, bin, ccd/img/cue[/sub] and real CDs too... cdz is just a way to compress a CD image to take less disk space.

D@mn, when I saw someone say "get rid of CDZ" I almost passed out. CDZ HAS to stay! I mean, how would I fit so many ISOs on my tiny HD?

heh. .I'm idiotwarned on emuforums.com , 2 suggestions. . .maybe more as I keep playing and messing with it. . .
1. Please, could you make it remember the windowed screen size? That can't be too hard right? (I don't know a thing about programmin') 2. I wanna boot audio CD's and watch the cool screen savers! please? that would be super awesome. . .(maybe it's just my computer that can't boot audio CD's? because it won't even boot a real psx game for me if I put it in my CD-Rom drive, I'm pretty sure that's my computer's problem though)

Which version of the emulator are you using, frog186? The emulator will read directly from a CD on most systems - any problems with that now (apart from compatibility ones) are more likely to be down to your system than the emulator. Rumble also works for a number of controllers - I'm using a Logitech Rumblepad 2, and it definitely works with that. The emulator already recognises PAL and NTSC versions as well. As for high definition graphics, I lost count of the number of times this has been explained here a long time ago. The stated purpose of this emulator is to emulate the Playstation as accurately as possible. Since the Playstation's own graphic abilities are certainly not high definition, it would be a bit pointless to have the emulator doing that. If you want enhanced graphic performance, I suggest you try ePSXe. And why get rid of .cdz? You don't have to use it if you don't want to, and a number of pSX users find it very useful.

How do I get to play real cds in my psx emulator I'm sorry I am not very skilled at using this emulator myself is there a guide that can teach me or can you tell me how to do this? Configure the emulator to use either IOCTL or ASPI - if you're using Windows 2K or XP with administrator privileges, use IOCTL; otherwise use ASPI and make sure you have a decent ASPI layer installed. If you're using Windows 2K or XP without administrator privileges, you can get round the IOCTL limitation by downloading and installing Nero's Burnrights (you'll have to do that in an administrator account, but you can set it up so that non-administrative accounts can then use the IOCTL driver). If you want to use ASPI, google for ForceASPI; that will install a decent ASPI layer on a Windows system for you. Then, put a Playstation CD in your drive, start the emulator, click File -> Insert CD Drive, click the drive you're using and that's it. If it doesn't work, it will either be due to game compatibility problems, such as copy protection, or problems with your system. Edit: PS2 emulation is a long way in the future yet. Check out PCSX2, but bear in mind you'll need a pretty high end machine even for slow frame rates on the few games that will play in it.

I'm using v1.7 I'd suggest more stability especially with the save states. Tekken 3 freezes while loading save states...
Thanks for this great program!

The emulator IS very stable, even when using save states.
But it does have issues with Tekken 3, so no luck there.

3. Better system for save states. . .I really like the shift+F1, shift+F2 etc. to save and pushing the corresponding button to load. . .plus it'll open up about five more slots right? the one you got now is right enough. . .but. . .I keep getting scared and have to open up the menu to be sure I'm about to push the right button. . heh. .

I would agree with boop666. It wouldn't hurt to have more save slots...

If someone can confirm that this is a real problem I will add a way to extract the subcode to a file. Well to be honest I now find that I don't have this problem with either of my new drives, but I remember having to use the option to rip the subcode in pete's CD plug-in with ePSXe in order to play Tomb Raider. In fact, the .sbi file is still there in my ePSXe folder. But that was with my old drive, a ASUS E616 DVD drive. I just tried my copy of Tombraider in ePSXe again and it seems to work fine without the subcode file. Tomb Raider doesn't work in pSX, but my Duke Nukem Time To Kill PAL version shows all the graphics in 1.7 and seems to be running perfectly, so I guess subchannel reading is not a problem for my LiteOn drive. Your emulator just keeps getting better and better. How does pSX determine if a game needs subcode reading or not? Should I just leave it on the Auto setting? -Sune
