It's a software-based emulator, so there's no way to make use of your graphics card's power to speed it up... Even though pSX relies on the CPU, it still doesn't use as much CPU as the other emulators like ePSXe. I find that my computer (which has very bad ventilation) freezes up when using ePSXe because of the extreme heat caused by having 100% CPU usage the entire time. This doesn't happen with pSX.

This is a great emulator but it would be nice to see a new improved filtering mechanism other than bilinear as the graphics look a little pixelated like theres not enough pixels or something and it don't look like that on my original console. Not every game is like that just most of them. Lunar 2 doesn't suffer from this problem.

Indeed, that's already been requested (bicubic interpolation, fractal interpolation, etc).

The Tony Hawk games don't work very well that would be nice if they were playable

Hm, can you post compatibility reports in the Game Compatibility forum then? And I think we can all agree that better compatibility is a major priority, so I think it's unnecessary to point out specific games that should be fixed. pSX Author can look in the compatibility lists or forums if he wanted to know which games to fix -- which is why it's important to post game compatibility reports.

A few (future) Requests;
I would like some of the security and system issues dealt with.
1. A DLL is unloaded while a critical section is active. 2. Obtain load directories and user directories with Windows safe (approved) calls. -> Remember, My Documents is an arbitrary directory. It may be named something entirely different.
3. Use the proper security descriptors when querying the system. 4. Fix the memory probe error; start address ffffffff; block size 290;
And one Suggestion;
When requesting Write or Read access to a WinAPI call, the other should be requested as well. The reason for this being that it allows the WinAPI call to provide faster access to files.
I could get further detailed information, but my 512MB of ram and 800MB of virtual memory doesn't seem to be enough to parse through the other 1,551 errors and 874 warnings.

The way MotM answered about making videos made me think that it would actually slow the emulator down when doing it (please, correct me if my interpretation is wrong). But for getting through it, maybe it could be done as a "new" (I think ZSNES already does it) way to record PSX Emu's in-game videos: Get the savestate and save the keys and waits inbetween them. Perhaps to make an AVI after that, make a save button that (probably will take the same time to do) converts that State+Keys into an auto gaming with File Output and not an Video Card Output. Well... if it's not a good idea, I'm sorry, that's just the idead that occurred me. Yeah I forgot to mention that a replay recording feature should be included, that way you can avi record without suffering from lag.

A few (future) Requests; I would like some of the security and system issues dealt with. 1. A DLL is unloaded while a critical section is active. Well thats the DLLs problem then - pSX itself does not contain any DLLs - it is a single .exe file. It is not an error to exit without deleting critical sections though - the OS cleans them up for you (same for files). No system directory names are ever used by pSX - My Documents is not used. Only the directory that the exe is in is requested (to load .ini file), and that is done in the standard way (with GetModuleFilename). All other directories are user specified. No calls requiring security descriptors are used except CreateFile (and related APIs) - they all use the default security descriptor (which is controlled by the OS). This doesn't make sense - for a start 0xffffffff is in the kernel address space so accessing it would cause an instant page fault - also there cannot be a block of memory 290 bytes long starting there since that is the last possible address in the 32bit address space. This doesn't make sense - for a start its the Win32 API, not "WinAPI", secondly the only calls made that request read or write access are files and in that case you never want to request write access if you only want read - there is no speed difference + it would prevent anything else from accessing them at the same time.

A hotkey to switch between controller types. ctrl+alt+p for example. It would go through the types in their dropdown menu order and possibly display a note in the screen for a few seconds that would read which type is in use.
Also, no need to tell me about the commandline switch option. I think it would be much more handy to have a hotkey to switch between modes in-game.
Also, hi. Awesome emu, just what I always wanted since my psx died.

Another thing.
Option to set file association for cdz from the menu. In addition to this, windows explorer context menu items such as 'Run this game' or something.

To continu the idea of herra, a way to set cdz to psxfin.exe and also the switch to use.

I also noticed that the volume isn't as loud as lots of other games, applications and whatnots. Very own volume slider (not mixer dependant) would be nice so I wouldn't have to fiddle with the master volume each time I want to play, and again when I'm doing something else.
Maybe even separate volume slider for xa and sequenced music. xa can be adjusted with those shortcuts, but sequenced music is quite low when compared.
This is a minor thing of course.

I'm sure you mean a normalizer of some sort, all sound on the same level, good idea.

Well, a normalizer would be different, but a volume slider isn't really needed, since there is already independent volume control (default: '+' and '-' keys for main volume, 'Page Up' and 'Page Down' keys for XA volume). I think it's more that PS1 games are just quieter in general than anything else, so that even with volume at 100%, it isn't quite as loud as everything else. So... maybe an "overdrive" or "gain boost" option could be implemented. The only problem with that would be that sound would possibly become a little distorted at the higher levels. Still, the idea is worth mentioning.
I'd also like to request again (previously mentioned in an older request thread) to have the supported memory card formats listed in the readme.txt file, and also possibly in the emulator (like in the "Files of type" drop-down menu when choosing a memory card).
I also think that adding an "About" menu with some relevant information (like site link, version, date of build, author, etc...) would still be a neat idea.
