I like the name pSX emulator, but it's starting to sound too generic. Maybe a new name suggestion thread should be made under the consent of pSX Author and maybe members can suggest names that that they think fit the emulator. If pSX Author doesn't like the suggestions he doesn't have to change it. But if that happens, then he has to change his name as well...
I suggest the name PlayPop! and maybe pSX Author can include the bios in the package to make it easier for us. LOL ;D

There are some serious bugs in The Misadventures of Tron Bonne. The same problems occured with every Playstation emulator I've tried.
What'll happen is that the game will seem to run fine until you get to certain dialog sequences. Some scenes will work fine, but some won't load and the screen will stay still until you press start. Sometimes, when you pause the game, the screen will turn black and there's no way to advance any farther. Then when you advance to another area in a stage where the game actually has to load the new area, it will also go black and you can't advance, most of the time. I've never been able to advance past the first level because of this.
It's a bit slow sometimes, but I believe that's just because I don't have a very fast computer. The graphics and sound seem just fine, so that's really nothing to worry about, as far as I know.

drewmaster: That's something that should be brought up in the "Bug Reports" section, not here. Not trying to be an ass... just pointing it out. As for a name change... maybe we could just start a thread anyway. If there ends up being no intent to change the name, the thread doesn't have to be taken that way. If nothing else, it'll provide another topic to talk about that may raise some interesting ideas.

Just a question... there's no way to simulate a TV appearance (resolution... I dunno ;p) using a PC Monitor? The games running on real Psx + TV doesn't look so pixelated as on Psx emulators + Monitors. I'm just asking if its possible, because I never saw an emulator or a GPU plugin capable of that. Why not try running the output of your videocard into a TV then, RyuRanVII? Many video cards now will support TV out, and you can see what effect a very low resolution TV has on a PC's graphic output.

not sure if this has ever been requested, but it would be REALLY cool if you could save to a real memory card using a dexdrive or something similar. it would be yet another feature to set pSX apart from the other emulators. since it's the goal of pSX to emulate the PSX as closely as possible, what would be closer than using REAL PSX hardware? ahhh...it would be GREAT! ;D

not sure if this has ever been requested, but it would be REALLY cool if you could save to a real memory card using a dexdrive or something similar.... I second that! For everyone who complains about not being able to search for the emulator, try "pSX 1.6". But if pSX Author intends that the name should be changed, I would suggest a subtle re-interpretation of the name "Sub-pSX" as the sub-p seems to suggest it's delineation of the original PSX. I'm not sure what the true goals and mission are for the project, but I would also suggest the following. A menu item be added to the main menu bar, "Help->About". The title of the application is reduced to "pSX" + what ever's playing at the time. And in the About dialog, provide a link to both the main page and the forum, as well as version information. Also, it might be useful to do some run-time modification of the "File" menu. Eject should be removed or disabled when a game is not loaded. The LoadCD and LoadCDImg items might also benefit the users by having a checked state. One last thing; "Load State", loading a game state directly, from a game based from a CD, does not load the CD. I really hate to suggest additions to your current format, as it may essentially break any persons existing files. But it seems worth-while to store information on the source file.

but it would be REALLY cool if you could save to a real memory card using a dexdrive or something similar. Are there such devices other than a dexdrive? Also, hoshikuzu, you directed drewmaster to the Bug Reports forum. It should've been the Game Compatibility forum.

Are there such devices other than a dexdrive? sure. there's the PlaySaver, X-Plorer/X-Ploder, DataDeck, Megatap/D-PadPro, a few others....plus, you can build your own! www.raphnet.net/electronique/psx_cardmgr/psx_cardmgr_en.phpneat, huh? ;D EDIT: most are serial or parallel, so it should be easy to implement (i would think). heck, even the usb ones shouldn't be too hard.

@smegforbrain: Yeah, I realized that too late, as it had been already moved. Maybe I should triple-check anything I intend to say that late at night (early morning technically)... it seems I continue to make little mistakes lately that I shouldn't be making, while tired. Or maybe... ::gasp:: I could go to sleep. XD

Just to stop hearing that, it would be nice if in the control config menu, you make the fields positionned like this
up left right down
So we would stop hearing that the keys are messed up.
Else put a thread on the top to tell ppls that the keys are not messed up. I hear it just too often.

I know how you feel... but people are people, and I guess we just have to deal with that. Either stay true to what's there (being correct as it is), or cater to people who complain (even though they *should* know it's right because they *should* own the controller already). I vote for the first option.

Debugger: An option for Debugger to dump all memory quickly (like "Save binary" but for all ram) An option to search a string: text or hex in memory.
Currently (1.6) it crashes if you dump more memory than reserved? for example: "Save binary" Address: 0 Size: 4194304 crashes on SLPS_017.70
excuse my poor english

I don't know if this has been requested or not, but it would really be nice to have a gameshark or some kind of cheating program.

Yeah, it's already been requested, and pSX Author said it'll be implemented somewhere in the future.
