At the time, yes, but right now, it's already out in Japan, so I wouldn't say so (at least not entirely) From other reviews, I heard it was really good, though.

At the time is what I was referring to... XD But yeah, it does *sort-of* fit now... I guess it's not like this is some official poll that's going to be used in some important report or something. It's just an opinion poll, good for generating interesting conversation over the poll topic. And it has done that quite well

i think ff8... squall has a better character (appearance) than cloud and the story is better than ff7´s. ff6 is a solid game but after the world breaks i got lost^^ can go everywhere, don´t know what to do and so i never finished it. ff x has a good story but the beginning can be very difficult... ( after i won the blitzball cup and sin attacked i got auron and have to go over a road, the next level... well i got suprised... i think 5times in a row just before i get to the end^^ this is at this point very... hard. Tidus has only 500hp and he got killed, so, after a few of this battles i turned the ps2 off...) ff9 is a good game as well and without knowing how to customize your chars its not that easy^^ (well i dunno and an optional boss with a time limit was too much... it was a strange book^^) ff4 is good as well but i think it´s too hard.
okay, in short: 1: ff8 2:ff7 3:ff6 4:ff10 5:ff9 6:ff4
I played the rest as well, except ff3 and 5 i think, but i can´t make an order for them. They are all the same ... bad^^

Geez... you new generation players can't enjoy a good game All 2D FFs are way better than 3D ones. The only of the 3D ones which is very good and very underrated is FF8. (I don't mean FF7 and FF9 aren't good. Of FF10 I can't say the same ) You guys will never realize some good things of Final Fantasy: - FF1 = Wow what's the name of this game? It's awesome!!! Look at the plot...the diferent jobs (and you get to change it latter, advanced class), and this Battle system! I Love this game's ending -FF2 = You get to discover "Ultima" the ultimate magic. And a weird leveling system ^^ And a sad story, many fall...and this is the first FF where each char is really diferent than the other, in the plot way of talking ^^ -FF3 = Crazy Job system, man...I wanna get all the jobs!!! Onion Boys gogogo ^^ (We will se a remake soon ^^) I just wish Ninja class wasn't so strong...it should be Paladin class or something -FF4 = Oh man...how beautiful this looks on the Snes, this plot, these graphics, this music! Oh man a Dark Knight becoming a Paladin! That Rydia is so cute. Man...Cain and Cecil are such a team. GoGoGo Fighting Cid!!! -FF5 = Omega, Shiryu the strongest enemies ever seen in a FF. Neo-Exdeath can't even be compared to them. 99% of the people (of the few) who beat them exploit their only weakness madly. I want to be one of the 1% ^^ Also FF3's Job system enhanced. A Quite good plot, goos music as always. Galuf's sacrifice is one of the most amazing scenes from all FF. -FF6 = I love you Celes!!! Kick Locke's butt and come to me ^^ This is when FF reach's a godly stage in the means of Music, Plot, Battle System, Summoning System, many characters and a madly and loved by players Final Boss. Some don't like the secound half of the game. But it's good too...a game which will never be forgoten and can't be compared to the overrated Final Fantasy 7. I hope no remake ever be done of this one... I wouldn't forgive Square-Enix for screwing the best game of all times.

(I don't mean FF7 and FF9 aren't good. Of FF10 I can't say the same ) I agree with you. The newer FFs don't give us the same 'feel' as the other ones. Not that they suck, I like all FFs, but I DO agree the older ones are better. Thats why I'm always replaying games like FF4 and FF5, but you'll never again see me playing FF7 or 9. Twice is enough... You guys will never realize some good things of Final Fantasy The problem is that most people here are kids... Most kids are just going to play FF1 and say "man, this is so boring...", because most kids will fail to see what's so special about it. Its not their fault. They grew up with the newer generation games. Thats why I'm happy that I'm 23 years old: My gaming life started with the Atari 2600. I played most old games, so I CAN see what is special about them. - FF1 = Wow what's the name of this game? It's awesome!!! Look at the plot...the diferent jobs (and you get to change it latter, advanced class), and this Battle system! I Love this game's ending One thing most people don't know that made this game special: this was the first console RPG that featured 4 characters instead of one, and where you can fight up to 8 enemies at once instead of just... ONE. In Dragon Quest 1, the battles where one-on-one... BTW, here's some information time: did you guys know why the series name is FINAL Fantasy? Its actually a funny story: Squaresoft, which was founded in the 80's creating lame games for the FDS (it was a disk drive for the nes 8 bit). The problem is that Square only crated lame games that sold very little. In 1987, they declared that they where about to go bankrupt. At the time, Hironobu Sakaguchi (Square's designer) decided to do ONE last game. He created a RPG based on Dragon Quest, but added MANY features. But since it was going to be his last game, he called it FINAL Fantasy. The game sold soo well that Sakaguchi just "forgot" about retirement. -FF5 = (...) Galuf's sacrifice is one of the most amazing scenes from all FF. Yeah, I cried BTW. ;D Funny thing is that I know some people that THINK that FF7 was the first FF game that featured a main character that dies... Bah! I hope no remake ever be done of this one... I wouldn't forgive Square-Enix for screwing the best game of all times. Well, the remake for the Game Boy Advance is almost ready. And I doubt it will be good. Most likelly they are gonna make the game EVEN easier and the musics will be inferior...

Wow ff7 seems to be taking the lead here. I have to say ff6 is the best of all time at least for me. I love Locke and Terra. The story in ff6 is great no ill say that ff7 has much better graphics but its an rpg and I thought the most important thing in an rpg was the story not the graphics. Ive never passed ff6 but i got close i locked myself ouf at one area and kinda put the game away. I really should go back and play it but i never seem to read the story again and forget where to go once i get the airship. Guess ive played it way to many times i do everything up to the airship by memory. oh and for ff7 freaking cloud should have had a phoenix down aeris is in a 3 way tie with terra and locke for my fav final fan chars

lol I'd always wondered why they couldn't use Phoenix Down too... I guess you just faint in battle when your HP goes to 0 (Pokemon!!! ), and don't actually die, so Phoenix Down only helps with fainting.

But this is something to wonder about: the enemy can use fire 3 on you. Your character explodes and dies. But you can use Phoenix Down and he is back on his feet again. You can be frozen, burned, sliced, eaten... But a phoenix down is enough... But being pierced by a sword means bye-bye, no phoenix down for you?!? This is weird.

Wondering about 2-3h or so in circle only to gain better exp... :/ Meh, you should play Phantasy Star 1 (master system). If you think FF3 was boring, you would die of boredom here. Seriously though, I kinda like having to level up. Its one of the things I miss the most on the newer RPGs.

Well, the remake for the Game Boy Advance is almost ready. And I doubt it will be good. Most likelly they are gonna make the game EVEN easier and the musics will be inferior... Yes, and I probably won't play it...the only remake I believe I played was FF2 on GBA but...it wasn't the same thing... Oh yes...I must say I only level up my Chars after ending the game(Levels only...I usually train to get things like Job's Skills in FF5 and Espers magic in FF6)... Final Fantasy isn't a hard game (with some exception...darn you Neo-Exdeath). But a game that you really MUST level up...you can't even go from the first city to the second without gatting 5 or so levels...it's Sted - Iseki Wakusei no Yabou for the NES, it is translated and it's a hard game to finish...try it if you're up to chalenges ^^ Oh yeah...try not using Fast Foward or Save States, that's where the pain in the ass begins. psicomaniaco: I think we braSilians have an understanding ^^ Hard to see Old Good Game's REAL lovers. Also I don't like Aeris so...that part where Sephiroth gently joins Masamune and Aeris body is very good. I felt nothing...I got much more desperate when people like Galuf, General Leo, Tella and FuSoYa met their fate

Yes, and I probably won't play it...the only remake I believe I played was FF2 on GBA but...it wasn't the same thing... Meh, if you wanted to play a remakem you should at least play the PSX version. At least its harder than the GBA one. The PSX version is kibda nice, but don't have the same 'feel' as the NES version. You know what I mean, right? But a game that you really MUST level up...you can't even go from the first city to the second without gatting 5 or so levels...it's Sted - Iseki Wakusei no Yabou for the NES, it is translated and it's a hard game to finish...try it if you're up to chalenges Yeah, I played this one before. In fact, I played on the real NES, but got bored very soon ('cause I don't speak a word in japanese ). Then I found a translated version and I played all the way through. Good game. The cities are all high-tech looking, and the enemies where very detailed (for a Nes game, of course). I even remember the first enemy I fought: a green blob (called Tanitas, or something like that) that takes 8 turns to die and only gives me 1 exp! The game was hard because of this: the enemies gives too little experience. psicomaniaco: I think we braSilians have an understanding ^^ Hard to see Old Good Game's REAL lovers. Maybe we are just old? Most of my friends, with their flashy Playstation 2 and X-Boxes look at me, playing a Nes game and treat me like I have a third arm or something... I don't mind though. In fact, I secretly laugh at them: they try to have fun with the 50 or so 'decent' RPGs on the newer consoles (most of them VERY short BTW. C'mon, it took me 3 days to beat Fable!!), and I can have fun with more than 2000 'great' RPGs for older systems.

Yeah the old era of bad graphic-rpg^^ Well lunar silverstarstory is a very good example... it has a damn good story but the graphics and the battles are nothing special, but i love it If you only look for a good rpg but no big story it would be ff1... yeah it´s a damn good game itself and the strong optional bosses ,which give you no exp and all have instantdeath atacks, are very fun to battle.. the only mistake is, that you can´t get more than 999hp, what makes the warrior-class very bad^^ There are other really nice 2d rpgs... terranigma, star ocean1, tales of phantasia, zelda (okay not a real rpg), chrono trigger, dual orb2 (kinda hard, so if you like hard games, without savestates it is very hard i think^^), illusion of gaia, lufia1+2, secred of mana / mana2 / evermore... i grew up with the snes, but without many rpg´s (pal ) but thanks to the translation-scene great snes rpg´s are playable in english.. like a dream I think it is really a "what was the first console you owned" I really like the snes-games and graphics a lot, others grew up with the psx and so they like the psx games more. But even so, i like ff8 the most :>

The problem is that most people here are kids... Thats why I'm happy that I'm 23 years old... LOL! ;-D And BTW the first Phantasy Star was a great game - one of the first games I ever played on a console. Never thought any of the other Phantasy Stars really measured up, though...
